Accessibility
Updated 2026-10-17
We want every child and parent to be able to use Teach Me, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, zoom or other assistive tools. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What we do
- Read aloud: questions, hints and Teach me can be read out loud. A parent can turn it on or off for each child.
- Screen readers: buttons have names, and pictures and graphs in questions have a text description.
- Keyboard: everything works with Tab and Enter, and you can always see which control is selected.
- Contrast and size: text meets AA contrast in light and dark mode, and the layout works from small phones to large screens and at 200% zoom.
- Motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, animations are turned down.
- Time: daily practice has no time limit.
- Checks: every release is tested with an automated accessibility scan and a keyboard check before it goes live.
Known gaps
- Some graph questions ask a child to read a picture. The text description helps, but these questions are harder with a screen reader alone.
- The answer to a math problem is typed. Spoken answers are not supported yet.
